Organic chemical compound in toys
EN 71-9 restrict the use of over 60 hazardous organic compounds which may cause harm, including
carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic for reproduction (CMR) in toys. EN 71-10 and EN 71-11 describe the
test method of sample pre-treatment and content determination respectively.

EN 71-9 has set requirements for the content and migration quantity of harmful organic chemical in
toys and toy materials, which is classified according to the different access approach including licking,
swallowing, skin contact, eye contact, and inhalation. It covers the following types of toys and some
